I'm hungry! Let's eat soomething in Ferran's restaurnt!

Sun, beaches, siesta and fiesta! Those things are the most popular and common when we think about what comes to our mind when we say SPAIN! Today I would like to present you one of the most world  famous chef. He is certainly one of the most creative and is well-known because of his extraordinary attitude towards dishes and cuisine, generally.  He's Ferran Adrià. His restuarant- ElBulli situated on the Costa Brava, in a small seaside - Roses. He's often described as
"the most imaginative generator of haute cuisine on the planet". He offers to visitors of his restaurant molecular gastronomy. I've never eaten there. But I feel like tasting, because it seems to be so interesting! Unfortunately, I have to safe many because I've just read that  the cheapest dish there costs more than 250 euros:P I'll put some photos of his dishes. Are you hungry?

something more than Spanish!

As we all know Spain is a very interesting country with a rich culture and many tourism places worth visiting. But there are a few people which know that there are more than one official language .  Unsurprinsingly, the official and common used is Spanish. There are some languages spoken in various part of this country. Some of these langauges dominate in their regions. For example, there are more people in Basque Country and Catalonia which prefer to speak Basque and Catalan than Castilian ( this name can be use replacable with Spanish). Of course, they will understand you if you speak Spanish, but it would be great for them if you know some basic words in their language:)  Besides Basque and Catalan, according to Spanish constitution, there is one more official language - Galician. It's quite similar to Portugues and it's spoken in Galicia- a region of Spain situated on the north-west part of country. All languages , except from Basque, are quite easy to pick up if you know Castilian. So this is one more reason to start studing Spanish:) 

 

Birthday party in Andalucia? why not!

Yestarday I calebrated with my friends my birthday. They made me a surprise at home and we spent very good time together. It recalled me memories from my last birthday when I was on Erasmus and I spent a beautiful day with my friends from all over the world with great wheather ( It was sunny, about 25 grades, in January(!)) We managed to buy roundtrip cheap tickets for plane ( from Santiago de Compostela to Sevilla) It costed us less than 20 euros. In Spain, if you have a little of time, you can find really cheap tickets  between cities in The Iberian Peninsula, especially with Ryanair. This is a true that in Spain buses and trains are really comfortable and efficient but unfortunately they are quite expensive. Travelling by plane is cheaper and seems to be more interesting and faster. We spent some days in Andalucia, which is my favourite ragion of Spain. There are so many beautiful places and you can notice inheritance of arabic culture. So if you haven't decided which holiday destination choose, don't hesitate! Andalucia is a place worth visiting. When I have more freetime ( actually I study and work hard because of my period of exams) I'll write something more about details and how I enjoyed my time there. :)

how can we recognize spanish people on holidays?

I've just read an article in one of spanish pages http://www.revistagq.com  ( I can strongly recommend you this page, there are a lot of interesting articles in spanish) about how do spanish people behave on holidays. It's written in quite humorous way. It's said that to recognize polish people is not so difficult, but what do we know about spanish? So it's quite surprising because we don't differ from spanish so much. According to this article, They always complain about many things, especially the weather - it's easy to meet one spanish during holidys saying " Oh my God! What a shitty weather! In Spain there are 30 grades now. Christmas time

Hello! It won't be a surprise when I said that december is one of my favourite month. I think that not only because of many days off from work and university but also because of a special atmosphere. It's unique time when a lot of people do things which they normally don't do, for example, spend more time with family, give money to charity and move by seeing poor and sick children when usually it leaves them cold. Christmas time is also related with many traditional customs of each country. I would like to describe you some spanish christamas customs. The more common traditions include incredibly elaborate "Nacimiento" (nativity scenes), Christmas trees, and remarkable Christmas markets scattered among villages and cities with piles of fruits, flowers, marzipan and other sweets, candles, decorations and hand-made Christmas gifts.  The spanish Christmas Eve is interrupted by going to the church to Misa del Gallo ( Miss the rooster) at midnight. Tipical spanish Christmas dinner is never eaten until after midnight. After the dinner, family gather around the Christmas tree and sing all carols.  The most popular is Noche Vieja- an equivalent of english Silent Night or polish Cicha Noc. Although, there are not many people in Spain( especially youngers) which are practising Catolics, churches in that time are full.
